PLAYER PROFILE

Career: Spartak St. Petersburg (Russia-Superleague, 1990-92), CSKA Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 1992-96), Efes Pilsen Istanbul (Turkey-D1, 1996-97), Alba Berlin (Germany-Bundesliga, 1997-98), CSKA Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 1998-2000), Iraklis Thessaloniki (Greece-ESAKE, 2000-01), Ural Great Perm (Russia-Superleague, 2001-02), Lokomotiv Mineralnye Vody (Russia-Superleague, 2002-03), Khimki Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 2003-05).

A silver medalist with Russia in the 1993 European Championship, Vasily Karasev has been the star point guard of the national team for the last 12 years... And age doesn’t seem to have had any effect on this lightning quick player who loves to attack the basket but has also developed a dangerous three-point shot over the years. Still, the 2004-05 season was by far his worst in his career, backing up US point guard Melvin Booker... Back home, Karasev has won six Russian league titles with CSKA and one with Ural Great Perm. He also tested the role of foreigner in Turkey, Germany and Greece, always competing in the top European Cup... With the national team Karasev won two Eurobasket medals and two World Championship medals... He was a member of the USSR cadets national team.
