PLAYER PROFILE

Dmitri Domani

Career: St. Joseph’s (NCAA, 1993-97), CSKA Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 1997-2002), Dynamo Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 2002-05).

Dmitri Domani was kind of a pioneer in the early 90’s when he decided to attend college in the States. A Russian kid in the land of capitalism was quite unusual at the time…. In Pennsylvania, he became a solid contributor for St. Joseph’s, making the NIT final in 1996 and the NCAA tournament one year later, losing to eventual champion Kentucky. He graduated in 1997 averaging 8.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists as a senior… Four year earlier, he had been one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises at the World Championship where Russia captured the silver medal… But since coming back from the States, Domani has mainly been used as a defensive role player, especially with CSKA Moscow. In 2002-03, with Dynamo he remembered he could score (19.1 ppg) and was brought back to the national team after a four year absence.
