PLAYER PROFILE

Zakhar Pashutin

Career: Spartak St. Petersburg (Russia-Superleague, 1990-93), Avtodor Saratov (Russia-Superleague, 1993-99), Pinar Karsiyaka (Turkey-D1, 1999-2000), ASVEL Villeurbanne (2000-01), CSKA Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 2001-03), Ural Great Perm (Russia-Superleague, 2003-04), CSKA Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 2004-07)

A classical slowed down European scorer, Zakhar Pashutin is now the longest-serving member of the National Team and still the best shooting guard in Russia. Unfortunately, he rarely has a chance to prove it. It’s a sad fact for Russian fans that Zakhar prefers captains status and 11th place in the rotation at powerhouse CSKA Moscow to being in the starting lineup anywhere else.  It was a twist of fate in the late 90’s that Pashutin used to be the main offensive weapon of the Army Club’s principle competitor Avtodor. He played there side-by-side with his brother Evgeni, who is now an assistant coach of both CSKA and the Russian National Team.
