Career: Estudiantes Madrid (Spain-ACB, 1994-2006), Unicaja Málaga (Spain-ACB, 2006-07)
The “glue” of the Spanish National Team, Jimenez is one of those guys you might not notice but whose performance is absolutely key to his team’s success. The 31-year-old has been the starting small forward on the team for many years despite the fact that he does not rack up a lot of points and barely takes any shots. It is his adeptness at rebounding, his passing ability and his stellar defense that have made him such an important player through the years. After 12 years playing for Estudiantes, Jiménez moved last summer to Unicaja, where he has played all season at power forward. What position he will play most at EuroBasket is one of the biggest question marks heading into the tournament. |
