Anwil Wloclawek Head Coach Andrej Urlep has emerged as a candidate to coach the Poland's men's national team.

Polish Basketball Association chairman Marek Palus announced on Tuesday that Urlep is among five contenders for the post.

The Poles did not qualify for the European Championships earlier this year but still have a slight chance of earning a place for the Serbia & Montenegro tournament. They must win a qualifying tournament, to be staged next summer, against the other sides who failed to earn a top two place in their semi-final groups.

Other contenders for the post are former Israel Head Coach Muli Katzurin, Sarunas Sakalauskas, Veselin Matic and Daniel Jusup.
