Italy: Bulleri Joins Armani Jeans Milano

22.06.2005

Italy point guard Massimo Bulleri, voted Lega A's top player this season at Benetton Treviso, has signed for Armani Jeans Milano.

Barcelona attempted to sign Bulleri, who has also drawn interest from NBA clubs, but he has ultimately decided to remain in Italy.

"I am very proud to be here, but I can't make any promises," Bulleri said at his unveiling in Milan.

"I feel great enthusiasm on behalf of the city and the club, and I will give 100% from physical to mental to make sure that Milano continues at the top of Italian basketball."

Bulleri, who was also the MVP in the 2001-2 campaign as a Benetton player, led his team to the Coppa Italia and to a first place finish this season but decided not to extend his contract.

His all-time club Benetton were knocked out of the Italian play-offs in five games by Milano at the semi-final stage.

They also suffered a frustrating exit from the Euroleague, losing to Tau Ceramica in the quarter-finals.

The 27-year-old playmaker has signed a three-year contract at Milano, one of the rising forces in Italy.

They were beaten in four games in the Lega A play-off finals by Climamio Bologna only last week.

Bulleri will once again be a focal point for Italy at EuroBasket 2005 when it is staged in Serbia & Montenegro.
