Zvi Sherf has taken over as coach of Israel's national side for the third time.
Sherf, who was officially introduced as the new coach on Wednesday, has replaced David Blatt following his decision to step down last week in a dispute over his lack of a coaching certificate.
Sherf will coach his first practice later in the day.
Ariel Beit-Halachmi and Ya'acov Geno have been appointed by Sherv as his assistants.
Sherf's mission is to lead the Israelis into the EuroBasket. To do that, they must win an additional qualifying tournament this summer.
Israel must finish top of Group B above Belgium and the Netherlands, and then win a showdown against the winners of Groups A and C.
