If he didn’t choose basketball, Tsartsaris could have been the tallest handball player in the world! His athletic career started in a team well known in Greece for their handball tradition, Filippos Verias. But Tsartsaris was too tall for the sport. Still, his club refused to let him go to another team, so he decided to go as far away as he could which eventually led him to Iceland. He played there for two years before a small Athens club, Near East, brought him back.
