Greece won over Israel in a game that featured few highlights. Greek forward Antonios Fotsis, formerly of the Memphis Grizzlies, had his best game of the tournament with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals.

In a game where neither team seemed to be inspired, Greece came away with the win after 40 minutes of sloppy basketball from both sides. Both teams shot poorly in the game; Greece 40 % from the floor and Israel 38 %.Greece shot a horrible 48 % from the line, but they went to the line for almost 4 times as many attempts as Isreal did. Greece was 18 of 31 from the charity stripe, Israel hit 5 of their 8 attempts. Isreal also committed 5 more turnovers than Greece, 15 to 10.

Greece seemed to be in control of the game throughout, as Israel never lead after the score was 2-0 to Israel. Israel played better in the second half, and after trailing 22-36 at halftime they got closer after the intermission.

"We started off goodin defense and kept them to 22 points in the first half. In the beginning of the second half we began to hesitate, which led to turnovers" said Greek coach Ionnidis.

Israeli guard Yotam Halperin did not play a single minute in the first half, but played the entire 20 minutes in the second. He scored 12 points, had 5 rebounds and 3 assists and finished as Israel’s top scorer. No other player except Halperin scored in double figures for Israel. Israeli star Tal Burstein had a second weak game in a row, this time scoring 8 points on 3 for 11 shooting.

Player of the game Fotsis got some help from his team mates, most notably captain Georgios Sigalas, 9 points and 7 rebounds, and Pheonix Suns center Iakovos "Jake" Tsakalidis, 11 points and 4 rebounds. Fotsis had 10 points and 7 rebounds at the half and continued his great play in the second half to lead Greece to victory. Point guard Theodoros Papaloukas played a good floor game as he had 6 points, 5 assists, 3 steals and no turnovers.

Greece will next face Serbia & Montenegro in a game for fifth place, while Israel will play Russia for seventh place in the tournament.
