 Germany: Double Boost For Dirk

25.08.2005

Dirk Nowitzki has received two pieces of good news which will enable him to compete for Germany in next month's EuroBasket in Serbia & Montenegro.

First, confirmation was received from Nowitzki's NBA club side the Dallas Mavericks that all the necessary paperwork had been signed allowing the 27-year-old to play for Dirk Bauermann's team.

News has also been received that Nowitzki's personal trainer Holger Geschwinder has been released from custody without charge after 36 days behind bars for suspected tax evasion, pending further investigation.

There's now nothing standing between Germany's star basketball player and a place in EuroBasket.

"I am relieved and very happy that Holger has been released from custody," said Nowitzki, who has been training with the rest of the squad in Braunschweig in spite of the absence of his mentor.

"Now, I'm going to get in contact with him as soon as possible and we'll see how things develop."

Nowitzki now hopes Geschwindner join him in Braunschweig and help his preparations for EuroBasket.
