Career: Cholet (France-Pro A, 1998-2005).

Marquis is coming out of hell. After a good start in the 2002-03 season with Cholet, Claude was arrested on the charges of complicity for a murder attempt. Stayed two months in jail from where he came out a broken man. His trial took place a few weeks ago and Claude was totally cleaned by the courts, the judges estimating that he tried his best to prevent the worst from happening… On court, Marquis was considered, at first, as too short for his position. Not a great rebounder (5.9 rpg last season) or outside shooter, he uses his quickness and good fundamentals inside to get his share of the scoring (15.7 ppg in 2004-05). Nobody would have predicted he could play for the NT, but Claude had a very decent qualification campaign, last fall, and gained respect from both the coaches and the press.
