PLAYER PROFILE

Career: Levallois (France-Pro B, 1993-96), Bondy (France-3rd Div., 1996-97), Levallois (France-Pro A, 1997-99), Pau-Orthez (France-Pro A, 1999-2001), Montpellier (France-Pro A, 2001), Nancy (France-Pro A, 2001-…).

When he was playing in Levallois, in his early years, his nickname was “Vinny Bang Bang”. Wonder why? It’s a shame Vincent isn’t 5 cm taller, because he would have been everything French basketball needed: a tall and strong center with a heart as big as the ocean. Compensates a lack of talent and size by giving 200% on the court at all times. Not a great scorer, but Masingue is a coach’s dream in term of work ethic, team mentality and smartness. Everybody predicted him as, at the most, to be a Pro B player. Well, Vincent proved everybody wrong… Won the Korac Cup with Nancy in 2002 and was part of a very surprising Nancy team last season which won the “Tournoi des As” (the French Copa del Rey) and qualified for the league finals. Didn’t have a chance, talent wise, to compete with Fred Weis and Jerome Moïso, the two stars of his generation, but succeeded because he has more heart than both of them put together…
