Czech Republic: Jezdik Pleased With Progress

26.07.2005

Maurice Whitfield, Lubos Barton and Ondrej Starosta will join the Czech national team on Tuesday as they step up their preparations for September's EuroBasket in Belgrade.

Coach Michal Jezdik's squad have been training in Opava without the US-based trio, who will meet up with the rest of the group ahead of tournaments in Sweden and Portugal.

Jezdik feels that training is going well so far and told www.basket.idnes.cz: "The players went through six days hard training in Opava. I am satisfied with their work during all days.

"We had three hard sessions every day including running and weight lifting. We have done everything I planned. It is nice to work with players like I had in Opava.

"We finished the first training camp. I have a good feeling and I hope the players are satisfied as well."

The Czechs will play Russia twice at home on August 6 and 7 in between travelling to Sweden and Portugal.
