Marko is a combo guard in a small package but is capable of playing both positions with equal effectiveness. He is able to score at will and has excellent playmaking abilities. The 25-year-old is very good passer and proved it last season at Zalgiris where he finished third in the EuroLeague with 4.9 assists per game.  Popovic has good range from seven, eight and nine meters which isn’t surprising considering that shooting runs in his veins.  Marko’s father, Petar Popovic (Zadar), was one of the best shooters in the former Yugoslavia.  His soft touch, great ball handling and tough mentality have earned him the starting playmaking spot in Zadar, Cibona, Efes Pilsen and Zalgiris. Expect him to do everything he can to get his country to China in 2008.
