PLAYER PROFILE

Career: Zadar (Croatia, 2001-05), Lagun Aro Bilbao Basket (Spain-ACB, 2005-07)

Banic is a typical modern power forward with strong body and a soft touch from the perimeter. He is a very efficient inside player who loves to bang in the paint. In qualifying he was one of Croatia’s best players.  Coach Repesa prefers players like Banic who are very effective on offense and tough and aggressive defensively. He is just 2.04 m tall, and because of that, he is little bit undersized at his position.  But after two very good seasons in Spain - 6.8 ppg and 3.9 rpg while shooting 59% from the floor in 20 minutes of action per game for Bilbao - he showed how good he can be. When he played for Zadar, he was the best scorer and rebounder on the team.  The biggest problem for him (though not for his coach) in this EuroBasket could be the abundance of excellent power forwards on the roster.
