 Slovenia: Nachbar Warns Against Complacency

11.08.2004

Houston Rocket Bostjan Nachbar knows that he and his Slovenia team-mates can't afford to
underestimate any opponent in next month's qualifying games for the European Championships.

The Slovenians, still licking their wounds from last year's disappointing 10th-placed finish in the Eurobasket staged in Sweden, will take on France, Poland and the Czech Republic.

"They are all good teams," the 2.07m forward said.

"France is the favourite on first sight, but the qualifications have always been unpredictable.
"We do not underestimate any team.

"But, on the other hand, we do not overestimate any team, either.

"The result surely will not come by itself, but if we work hard we surely will not come out of the qualifications empty handed."

Nachbar averaged close to 11 points last year in Sweden.

Slovenia looked to have the makings of a team that could claim a medal but after the initial group phase, they blew a huge first-half lead against Israel in the first game of the knockout round and crashed out of the competition.
