 Ksistof Lavrinovic

Career: Alita Alytus (Lithuania-LKL, 1996-99), Ural-Great Perm (Russia-Superleague, 2002-04), Dynamo Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 2004-05, loaned by the CSKA Moscow), Unics Kazan (Russia-Superleague, 2005-07)

Had it not been for legal problems stemming from a rape conviction in which the victim later recanted, Ksystof would have been drafted into the NBA. He even signed a pre-agreement with Toronto several years ago, but when the fans and management of the club found out about his past, the deal was never finalized. He is the prototypical versatile power forward, able to go to war under the rim as well as punish lazy defenders with his three-point shooting (12-of-24 at the Athens Olympics). His height, solid defence, great body and good hands are a coach's dream, even though some would like him to play with a little more passion. Five years ago Ksystof moved to Russia and established himself as one of the top players in the league. This season he helped his Unics Kazan team to reach ULEB Cup Semifinals, averaging 12 points and seven rebounds per game in 23 minutes of action. His career for the Lithuanian National Team has also been marked with many strong performances. A member of the EuroBasket 2003 winning side, Lavrinovic saved his team at the 2004 Olympics with a 15-point, nine-rebound performance against Angola. Along with his twin brother Darjus, he is one of the go-to guys for Lithuania.
