Anwil Wloclawek lead Group B in the FIBA Europe League and they're in excellent form on the Polish domestic
front, too.
That was evident in Saturday's 83-77 victory over Astoria.
Anwil seized control on their Hala Mistrzow homecourt and led 25-19 at the end of the first quarter. They kept their noses in front the rest of the way.
Armands Skele, the 1.93m guard from Riga who played for Latvia at last year's European Championships, was the chief tormentor of Astoria. He scored 24 points - nine from behind the three-point arc. He also had six rebounds and four assists.
Dusan Bocevski was also outstanding with 19 points in a winning cause.
Prokom take on Slask in Sopot on Friday in a top-of-the-table showdown.
Both sides warmed up for that contest with decisive victories on Saturday.
Prokom won 97-74 at Start and Slask beat visiting Polonia Warsaw, another FIBA Europe League side, 90-72 to stay just one point off the top of the standings.
Anwil also have a tough game next time out against fifth placed Gipsar, who were 90-74 winners at AZS.
Spojnia remain rooted at the bottom of the table after crashing to a 88-80 defeat at Unia-Wisla.
In the other game on Saturday, home side Notec prevailed 82-74 over Czarni.
