France have appointed Antoine Rigaudeau as their captain for EuroBasket 2005.
Rigaudeau, currently on the books of Pamesa Valencia, has NBA experience with the Dallas Mavericks while he also has represented Cholet, Pau-Orthez and Virtus Bologna.
Rigaudeau told the www.basketfrance.com website that he was delighted with the accolade.
The 33-year-old said: "It's with pleasure that I will take the captaincy role with the French team that will play in the European Championships in Belgrade in September.
"I want to bring my experience, my calmness to this enthusiastic squad of players.
"I will do all I can on and off the court for the benefit of the squad and our common objective."
Rigaudeau added: "Contrary to what has been reported I have never been reluctant to take on the responsibility of the captaincy."
