 Sergio Rodríguez

Career: Siglo XXI (Spain-School, 2000-03), Estudiantes Madrid (Spain-ACB, 2003-06), Portland Trail Blazers (NBA, 2006-07). Selected in the first round of the 2006 NBA draft (#27), by the Phoenix Suns. Rights traded to Portland immediately.

“Spanish Chocolate”, as he is called in Portland where he had an up-and-down NBA rookie season (3.7 ppg and 3.3 apg in 12.9 mpg), is one of the most creative players in the world, as he proved during the 2006 World Championship. Rodriguez made some unbelievable assists and scored 14 points in the semi-finals against Argentina. The 21-year-old was U18 European Championship MVP in 2004 and is a spectacular player, with incredible quickness, ball handling and 1-on-1 skills. He excels in passing and can change games just by stepping on the court. When he does find his way on to the floor, don’t even dare to close your eyes for a second or you may miss one of his no-look passes or alley-oop assists.
