PLAYER PROFILE

Petr Benda

Career: BVV Brno (Czech Republic-NBL, 2001-03), A Plus Brno (Czech Republic-NBL, 2003-07)

Benda is an inconspicuous but very effective player whose consistency is one of his best assets. In the Czech League he has been the king of rebounding for many years though he is not particularly big or strong.  At 2.03 m, Benda is a natural type of player who relies on his instincts and an amazing knack for choosing the right place to be. Currently playing for the famous Brno basketball club, he doesn’t seem to have any evident weakness. He is an all-around player, useful on both the offensive and defensive end, and a solid shooter. At A Plus Brno, Benda plays more minutes than anyone on the team. He has finished first or second in rebounding and field goal percentage in the Czech League each of the last three seasons, but has never earned the MVP Trophy. Since 2004, he has averaged over 15 ppg and 11 rpg and twice has pulled down 23 rebounds in a single game!
