Career: Cholet (France-Pro A, 2000-04), Real Madrid (Spain-ACB, 2004-06), Seattle Supersonics (USA-NBA, 2006-07). Drafted in the second round of the 2005 NBA draft (#48), by the Seattle Supersonics.
Totally unknown in Europe until two seasons ago, Gelabale blossomed at Madrid under the tutelage of Bozidar Maljkovic. He hit a crucial three-pointer in Real's improbable rally in Game 5 of the 2005 ACB Finals and started 23 of 34 regular season games in his ACB debut. His second year in Madrid did not go as smoothly as he saw his playing time vanish after stating that he would choose to go to the NBA the following fall. Gelabale was always the defender assigned to guard the opponent's top offensive threat and has gone on to become a regular starter with the National Team, mostly because of his defense and ability to make the right choice on offence. As expected he started his NBA career slowly for a team loaded with two All-Stars at the wing (Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis). But he took advantage of their injuries to slip into the rotation.
