The game for seventh place between Russia and Israel was a display of different approaches on the offensive end. Russia shot 36 three-pointers in the game, while Israel only attempted 6 shots from beyond the arc. Israel's strategy proved to be the most effective one, as they won the game.

Russia put on a late rally and came within 2 points in the last minute, after a Victor Khriapa tip in made the score 82-84. It proved to be to little to late for Russia as Israel hit some free throws in the end for the final score.

Being down 11 points, 69-80, with 2.20 left in the game Sergei Monia scored 8 straight points for Russia, on 2 three-pointers and a dunk, to make the score 77-82. Andrei Kirilenko scored on a three-point play and the Khriapa tip in gave Russia some hope at winning the game when they got within 2 points.

The difference in style of play between the two teams was evident in the three-point shooting. Russia shot 36 threes and hit only 11 of them for 31 %. They shot 63 % (17 of 27) on their 2-pointers. Israel shot only 6 threes, hitting 3 of them. They shot 55 % on their 2-pointers. Russia had trouble with their free throw shooting as well, connecting on only 58 % of them.

Russian star Andrei Kirilenko returned from a back injury that kept him out in the previous game. Maybe he shouldn't have, considering he had by far his worst game of the tournament. Kirilenko shot an awful 3 for 15 from the floor, inlcuding 0 for 8 on 3-pointers. He finished with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals.

Russia's best player was Sergei Monia, who scored 26 points. Monia went 7 of 10 on three-pointers, 6 of his threes coming in the second half. Monia also had 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Victor Khriapa also had a good game with 16 points.

The Israeli team was lead by two bench players; guard Meir Tapiro with 26 points, 3 assists and 3 steals, and center Yaniv Green, 21 points on 7-8 shooting and 7 rebounds. Israel’s biggest star Tal Burstein had 19 points on 8 for 12 shooting and also recorded 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

The game was tied at halftime 36-36, but Israel came out playing better than Russia for most of the second half. Tapiro scored 22 points in the second and Green scored 16 after the break.
