PLAYER PROFILE

Roko-Leni Ukic

Career: Split (Croatia-A1, 1999-2005), Tau Ceramica (Spain-Liga ACB, 2005-06), F.C. Barcelona (Spain-Liga ACB, 2006-07). Selected in the second round (#41) of the 2005 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors.

A future NBA player, Roko-Leni was drafted by the Raptors but chose to sign with Vitoria instead.  After an average season with TAU, Velimir Perasovic let him go to Barcelona. At EuroBasket 2005, he started to show his talent despite some tough competition at his position in the form of Planinic and Popovic. After just one more season in the ACB, he is a totally new player: stronger, faster and more clever. He has the size of a shooting guard, but handles the point guard responsibilities with more and more skill. Ukic is a great ball handler. He drives and finishes with both hands, dishes to the open man with ease and is a very good shooter from three-point range. The biggest problem for him remains the competition on his own team, especially as his weakness is that he needs to have the ball in his hands to be effective.
