 Fran Vazquez

Career: Siglo XXI (Spain-School, 1997-2001), Unicaja Málaga (Spain-ACB, 2001-03), Bilbao Basket (Spain-LEB, 2003), Auna Gran Canaria (Spain-ACB, 2003-04), Unicaja Málaga (Spain-ACB, 2004-05), Akasvayu Girona (Spain-ACB, 2005-06), F.C. Barcelona (Spain-ACB, 2006-07). Selected in the first round of the 2005 NBA draft (#11), by the Orlando Magic

Vazquez was a hero at EuroBasket 2005 after scoring a buzzer-beating lay-up to take a quarterfinal thriller versus Croatia to overtime, but missed the 2006 World Championship because of an injury.  A year later he is ready to again join the National Team and show all the talent that led the Orlando Magic to take him with the  #11 pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. Vázquez is a 2.09 m power forward/center with great quickness, athleticism and a long wingspan. The 24-year-old led the ACB in blocks per game this season with two per contest and though he is still inconsistent on any given day, Vázquez can do incredible things on the court, showing NBA All-Star potential.
