PLAYER PROFILE

Career: Unicaja Málaga (Spain-ACB, 1998-2000), Badajoz (Spain-LEB, 2000), Unicaja Málaga (Spain-ACB, 2000-07).

Carlos Cabezas was the last cut before EuroBasket 2003 and the 2004 Olympic Games, but made it to the World Championships in 2006. Coming off his best season so far, leading Unicaja Málaga to the Euroleague Final Four and becoming his team’s scoring leader in domestic league action (10.8 ppg), Cabezas is ready to be a major contributor.  All heart, Cabezas might not be a classy playmaker, but he can change any game. Strong, intelligent, fast and intense, he is a great defensive player who can be a threat also on offense due to his ability to penetrate and his prowess leading the fast break. Plus he has improved his outside shooting and is no longer afraid to pull up from deep. Don’t expect him to make Sergio Rodríguez-like passes, but Spain can count on Cabezas if they need to change the pace of a game or if they are looking for some heart off the bench.
