 Matteo Soragna

Career: Cremona (Italy-3rd Div., 1993-96), Pistoia (Italy-Lega, 1996-97), Barcellona (Italy-3rd Div., 1997-99), Barcellona (Italy-Legadue, 1999-2000), Biella (Italy-Legadue, 2000-01), Biella (Italy-Lega, 2001-04), Treviso (Italy-Lega, 2004-07)

Soragna is another late bloomer that coach Recalcati added to the team when he was 28 and without any international experience. He made his debut with the National Team at EuroBasket 2003.  Soragna plied his trade in the second and third level of Italian basketball before his ability to shoot from the outside caught the attention of larger clubs. On defense he has the size to match-up with the opponents' best scorers at shooting guard or small forward and on offense he is versatile, with the ability to fill in at point guard if necessary. Italy has also discovered that Matteo is a vocal leader. He is the team captain at Benetton and his great friend Andrea Bargnani asked him to be present in New York the night he was selected with the number one overall pick in the NBA draft.
