Greece: Lazaros Agrees New Dynamo Deal

01.07.2005

Greece national team center Lazaros Papadopoulos has signed a one-year extension with Dynamo Moscow.

The 2.10 giant, his country's best player at the Olympics last summer when the Greeks reached the quarter-finals before losing a nailbiter to eventual champions Argentina, is expected to play at EuroBasket 2005 in Serbia & Montenegro.

He was left out of the last EuroBasket in Sweden in 2003, with national team coach Yiannis Ioannidis preferring Efthimios Rentzias and Jake Tsakalidis in the squad.

Papadopoulos, who lists buckwheat as his favourite food on his player profile on the Dynamo Moscow website, averaged 13.5 points on 59% shooting from the field this season in the Superleague and also pulled down seven rebounds per game.
