 24 Seconds With Marco Mordente

05.03.2008

Italy's Marco Mordente is expected to play for coach Carlo Recalcati again this summer when the Azzurri attempt to qualify for EuroBasket 2009 in Poland.

The 29-year-old Benetton Treviso guard wants to represent his country as long as he can.

Once his playing days are over, though, maybe we'll find Mordente in the kitchen of a restaurant whipping up a special pasta.

That's what FIBA Europe discovered in "24 seconds with Marco Mordente".

FIBA Europe: What does Marco Mordente think of when he wakes up in the morning?

Marco Mordente: (Smiling) I don't know, that's a nice question. I think the most important thing that I think is to have a big breakfast with soya milk cereal, marmalade and fruit. Then, after one hour, hour and a half, I can start to think because before that, it's very difficult.

FIBA Europe: What's the best movie you have seen?

Marco Mordente: Amacord by Federico Fellini

FIBA Europe: If you could have your choice of a meal, what would you like to eat?

Marco Mordente: A big plate of pasta. I'm an Italian.

FIBA Europe: If you had all the money in the world and could own any car, what would that be?

Marco Mordente: A car? No.  I don't care too much about that. I would like to go to Africa, help the children and live with them and help them have a better life. It's my dream, and maybe one day I can do that.

FIBA Europe: If you were not professional basketball player, what career would you like to have?

Marco Mordente: I'd like to be a cook.

FIBA Europe: And what your speciality dish be?

Marco Mordente: I don't know, maybe salad because right now, I can't cook anything. Salad is the best thing I can do now.
