PLAYER PROFILE

Patrick Femerling

Career: Washington (USA-NCAA Div. 1, 1995-98), Berlin (Germany-Bundesliga, 1998-2000), Olympiakos (Greece-ESAKE, 2000-02), Barcelona (Spain-ACB, 2002-04), Panathinaikos (Greece-ESAK, 2004-06), Sevillia (Spain-ACB, 2006-07).

What will happen to Germany’s center position when Patrick Femerling steps down? The answer is there will be a big hole. One of the most experienced big men in Europe, Fermerling has played for basketball powerhouses like F.C. Barcelona, Olympiakos Pireus and Panathinaikos Athens. At age 32 he is facing the end of a successful career, but “Pat” is still capable of playing decent minutes. He tallied 25 minutes per game for San Fernando Sevillia in the Spanish ACB. His knee-high socks are still his signature as is his high percentage mid-range game. Even if he doesn’t produce superstar numbers, the team’s captain helps everybody around just with his presence and vocal leadership.
