Maccabi Tel Aviv center Nikola Vujcic has been named captain of the Croatian national team.

Vujcic, as expected, was installed as skipper following a vote among the Croatian players during their training camp at Bjelolasica mountain.

Vujcic was a key player for Maccabi last season, helping them win the Euroleague title for the second consecutive campaign.

The team will remain at their base until August 13, after which they will have a two-day break before continuing their preparations for EuroBasket 2005 in Zadar.
