BC Azovmash have signed Latvian national team guard Sandis Valters for the remainder of the season.

Azovmash boss Rimas Girski was looking to reinforce a side that has seven wins in 12 FIBA Europe League Group B games so far.

"This player is a player of the national team of Latvia, and has a good experience of playing for BC Skonto Riga.

"He is a good team player and also good in defence, when he is accustomed to playing against quick players."

Sandis, 26, is 1.90m tall. Prior to turning out for Skonto, he played for Latvian outfit BC Brotseni.

He made four appearances for the Latvian side that qualified for this year's European Championships.
