PLAYER PROFILE

Marko Maravic

Career: Slovan Ljubljana (Slovenia-Division 1A, 1996-2001), Pepinster (Belgium-BLB, 2001-02), Krka (Slovenia-Division 1A, 2002-03), Olimpija Ljubljana (Slovenia-Division 1A, 2003-04), Milano (Italy-Lega, 2004-05), Manresa (Spain-ACB, 2005-06), Menorca (Spain-ACB, 2006), BC Kyiv (Ukraine-Superleague, 2006-07)

Boštjan Nachbar of the New Jersey Nets was the first to declare that he would take a break this summer, followed closely by Marko Milič. Therefore, head coach Ales Pipan lost his top two choices at small forward.  With that hole in the line-up, Maravič probably would not have made the National Team. But without these two stars, he will probably travel to Spain and in all likelihood have quite an important role there. His season seemed to be lost when he was first injured and then “unwanted” by Menorca. But then Slovenian coach Tomo Mahorič invited him to Ukraine where he found his form and helped BC Kyiv win the Ukrainian Cup.  He is not the flashiest player ever seen, but coaches love him because they know what to expect from him.  Who couldn't use a guy capable of scoring over 10 points per game in the Euroleague?
