Career: Tarbes (France-4th Div.), Nancy (France-Pro A, 1994-98), Paris SG (France-Pro A, 1998-2000), Nancy (France-Pro A, 2000-01), Pau-Orthez (France-Pro A, 2002-04), Casademont Girona (Spain-ACB, 2004-05), Pamesa Valencia (Spain-ACB, 2005). Cyril is one of the few French centers that can compete at top European level. Originally from Southwest France, he made a name for himself in Nancy, in the Eastern part of the country. Quick and agile for his size, Julian can display some good scoring moves around the basket although the 5 cm he lacks compared to most opponents force him to always keep moving. French League MVP in 2001 after winning the Korac Cup with Nancy that same season. A member of the 2000 Olympic Silver medallist team in Sydney, Cyril is a “banger” but rarely produces big numbers under the boards and suffers sometimes on defense against taller opponents. Had a good start last season in Girona (9.6 ppg) but rarely played after he transferred to Valencia (4.2 ppg in 10 min per game) in January. His father played rugby at professional level. |
