Kazlauskas Backs Lithuania

Injury-troubled Lithuania have been tipped to cause a surprise in the EuroBasket by former coach Jonas Kazlauskas.

The current Olympiacos coach, who combines his role with one in charge of the China national team, thinks that his homeland can overcome their problems to cause an upset in Serbia & Montenegro.

Kazlauskas, who is in Qatar for the FIBA Asian Championships with China, believes that the team he coached between 1997 and 2001 can overcome the loss of players such as Arvydas Macijauskas and Dainius Salenga and have a successful tournament.

"I know that we have our problems and now we count that maybe eight or more players are out of the team," Kazlauskas said.

"And they are eight key players, it's not just nothing, so for sure in this championship we have problems.

"But we have a good young generation and I think we can make a surprise in this championship."
